![]() ![]() Traveling to Far Harbor, the Sole Survivor learns that on the island, there are three factions that have been locked in dispute with each other Far Harbor's citizens, the Church of the Children of Atom, and Acadia, a place specially set up as a synth refuge. A brief investigation at the Nakano residence will tell the player that Kasumi believes herself to be a synth replacement, and that she's decided to leave her parents and travel to a place far north called Far Harbor to be with people like her. Arriving at the office, Ellie Perkins will tell Nick and the Sole Survivor to investigate the case of Kasumi Nakano - the missing daughter of a fisherman living beyond the northeast boundaries of the Commonwealth. The add-on starts off with the quest Far From Home when the player character listens to a radio message from the Valentine Detective Agency after completing the quest Getting a Clue, or when the player goes to the Nakano residence (possibly even before meeting Nick Valentine). This leads to the fighting between the Far Harbor citizens and the Children of Atom, but a greater plot involves a synth, who has ties with Nick Valentine. There, the Sole Survivor will search for a young woman, Kasumi Nakano, and a colony of synths. Instead, we jumped off the boat at Great Cranberry, walked up the hill, visited the museum, walked a short trail to lovely Whistler Cove, admired the views, and hopped the day’s last ferry back to Southwest Harbor, where our lobster Bloody Marys were waiting. The add-on is set on Mount Desert Island, off the coast of Maine. We missed the first ferry (it was raining!), so didn’t have time to visit both islands. There’s also a golf cart shuttle that takes visitors around the island. Great Cranberry also has a small museum, a take-out café, gift shop, and gorgeous views. And great views of Mount Desert Island and beyond. Little Cranberry has a historical museum, restaurant, and a few art galleries. (Anyone interested in Beal’s famous lobster Bloody Mary before departing?) It’s possible to make a day of it, visiting both islands. The Cranberry Cove Ferry offers daily service to Great Cranberry and Little Cranberry, departing from Beal’s Lobster Pier. The staff is also happy to arrange off-site activities, including private boat charters.įor another dose of laid-back island life (and a totally different perspective), hop the ferry to the Cranberry Isles, a cluster of five islands just south of Mount Desert Island. There are decks and porches for relaxing and taking in water views, a heated outdoor pool with private cabanas, an on-site spa, croquet court, and complimentary bicycles. Everything’s been updated and elegantly and comfortably furnished. Today, the luxury resort offers a variety of accommodations, including adult-only guest rooms in the Main House, Philips House, and Summer House, and family-friendly cottages and cabins. It quickly became a popular summer destination for well-heeled visitors from Boston, New York, and beyond. The hotel, perched on a hill overlooking Somes Sound, was originally built in 1884 by Jesse Pease, a retired sea captain. ![]() There are only a handful of places to stay the best among them is The Claremont. Southwest Harbor, with a population of about 1,800, feels like a real community (as opposed to a tourist hot spot), where people walk their dogs and neighbors stop to chat. ![]()
